Girls'
Scholarship Program
WATCH
has a scholarship program for young girls
whose families don't have enough money
or can't afford to pay for their girls
to go to school. WATCH chooses these girls
from 8 rural districts of Nepal. The girls
who benefit from this program really are
the poorest of the poor, and from the
ethnic and so-called untouched peoples.
WATCH helps them pay for uniforms, books,
materials, and most importantly the tuition
of the school.

WATCH supports these girls through school
all the way to 10th grade. If the girls
wish to pursue a higher education WATCH
is able to provide that for them as well.
Also WATCH helps the families of the girls
with income generating programs by providing
technical training and financial support
to the parents to earn money so that they
can begin to pay for their children and
become independent. Also WATCH has an
agreement with the parents that they must
make sure their child goes to school regularly
and on time for WATCH to continue paying
for the education.
WATCH
has a fund to pay for these scholarships
that receive money from internal sources
as well as people who donate money. Currently
WATCH is supporting two girls who are
currently studying health and who have
decided to continue on to higher education,
one has recently completed her education
on health. WATCH has an agreement with
the girl that once they finish their education
that they must come and work for WATCH
for a year or two as a way of saying thank
you to WATCH. The girls are taught mostly
on the subjects of agriculture and health
so that they can use that specific knowledge
in their communities.
