SUPPORT AND CAPACITY BUILDING
The
NGO movement in Nepal is quite recent,
but there is a lot of enthusiasm for it,
which has resulted in the birth of other
organizations. Most of them are "pocket
NGOs" created by near-and-dear bureaucrats,
politicians, elite and INGO staff. Because
of this phenomenon, NGOs in Nepal are
coming under criticism, and committed
NGOs are suffering as a result. Local
NGOs and CBOs do not get any chance to
prove their worthiness and commitment.
WATCH has been aware of this situation
from its inception, so it decided to support
committed NGOs if they are rural women.
WATCH has helped them draft their constitutions
and registrations, write proposals, get
in touch with probable donors, train their
human resources, establish management
systems, etc. WATCH also provides IEC,
reading and reference materials. WATCH
will also help them get running by providing
them with a small amount of funding support
to conduct HIV/AIDS awareness raising
activities. WATCH has developed and implemented
the following trainings;
- Community
Organizing: six-weeks long
- PRA

- Gender
and Equity Sensitization Training
- Group

These
trainings are provided to women's groups,
NGOs and projects. All the courses are very
interactive and rely on an experiential
learning process. WATCH also supported some
of the selected NGOs to implement skills
learnt during the training in their own
field. WATCH makes all its awareness raising
materials available to the NGOs free of
charge.
